Just when I thought the huge wave of trends for denim that is currently being seen all over the joint would be over by next year I see the Dries Van Noten Spring 2011 collection and I’m proven wrong. The show had an array of jackets, shirts, waistcoats and trousers which were covered in denim that looked as though it had been bleached leaving them to turn a pearl white in patches, the effect reminded me of the type of jackets my mum and aunties worn in the 80’s over the salwar kameez. Beautifully constructed shirts resembling alabaster in colour had almost ink like splatters in different shades of indigo running down them and were by far my favourites from the collection. I’m Totally going to run out into my back garden with a arm full of my clothes, splatter my white shirts with fabric paint and throw bleach over my denim jackets. Wish me luck.
