On an earlier post I talked of how much I loved Beetlejuice as a child and was always fascinated by Lydia Deetz, well after watching it recently I decided I WANT TO LOOK LIKE LYDIA DEETZ. So far I cut myself a short straight fringe and started to buy clothes that are far too big but drape well so I’m kinda on my way there? When trawling through the internet for deetz-esq clothing I stumbled across Tony Speckman’s A/W 2010 collection for his label The Non and I have not been able to stop visiting his website and gazing at the images ever since, plus the website itself is so wonderfully eerie. The collection is called ‘Golden Dawn’ and inspiration for the line comes from the story about a Magical Order founded in Great Britain during the 1880s who supposedly bred witches. You can clearly see the wiccan/occult elements within the stunning yet bizarre styling and idiosyncratic photo shoot which I’m just crazy about. Even though the images may say otherwise I think there are some really beautifully crafted and very wearable pieces in the collection and well I think it would all be perfect to achieve my aim to look like the character Lydia by the end of the month. In particular I adore the wide round coat with large buttons and a small black collar and the two tone half black half white top, furthermore I find the black rounded trousers very similar to a Pakistani style salwar just a bit more exaggerated around the knee. All in all it’s a pretty dazzling collection and has really inspired me on different ways to achieve my Beetlejuice summer look.
