I was supposed to post this a while back but it totally slipped my mind. Better late than never and all that.
For the Paris spring/summer 2011 showcase, Stefano Pilati took Yves Saint Laurent menswear back to North Africa and more specifically Morocco with sober slate and beige palettes the coats and jackets drawn in at the waist with a belt, something that has been seen in many of the runways and defiantly looks to be a strong trend for the summer 2011 season. North African references were seen throughout the collection with the footwear which was mostly hefty sandals that looked as though they would be perfect for a safari excursion, some models even sported shrunken fezes tilted ever so slightly. High waisted pleated pants and bubble shorts were pulled in tightly at the waist which seemed to tone down the touches of leopard print seeping through and elaborate brocade covering the blazers. The show seemed to be like a sort of best of Stefano show looking back onto what once was and reinstated why he is one of the best.
