Last night at the very last minute (like literally a hour and an half before it started) I managed to bag tickets to see the xx play the Camden Roundhouse and what can I say, it was just the most perfect night. Supported by Wild Beasts on the night Oliver Sim, Romy Madley Croft and Jamie Smith came on stage at 9:30pm on the dot in there usual chic all black outfits which have become a staple of there image as a band and took there place infront of the screaming crowd shadowed by the huge X symbol behind them. On hot and humid summer night in Camden the band started to played the first chords of 'Intro' off the debut album and like a heatwave of sexual rapture the audience were taken away from reality to the world of xx for the next hour. Oliver's sexy, soothing, husky voice on songs like fantasy and islands drove the sweltered crowd wild and Romy's wispy vocals made me want to be up jump up on stage with them. Islands and heart skipped a beat are my favourite songs on the album so when they did eventually play it I became a total fan girl screaming out the lyrics along with the band but to be honest the whole set was pretty much close to perfect and even my least favourite songs on the album were breathtaking, like fantasy and stars which sounded so beautiful live. In one part samples from one of my favourite dance songs ever ATB 9pm till I come could be heard and made me and my friends scream out loud and dance around as though we had travelled straight back to Ibiza 1999, another real speacial moment for me came when they played a cover of Kyla's Do you Mind, although I have to admit I was abit gutted when they didn’t play there cover of Aliyah Hot Like Fire. The set ended with cannon’s shooting out confetti and although the they didn’t say much all night you could tell from Oliver’s few words this was a big moment for them as a band. Such perfect night I just really want the whole night back.
