And to history we will say we were right!

Last week I preordered my copy of Hidden the second album from These New Puritans because I loved everything about them and there first album Beat Pyramid so much. Monday morning the album arrives through my letterbox and doesnt leave my cd player all week! Hidden is better than any than I imagined it would sound, the album is really heavy on those sick beats These New Puritans are known for but absent are the guitars from the first album and instead we hear elaborate and beautifully arranged woodwind and brass sections. The magic of the album is that everything in it works so bloody well, we first burst into Time Xone the first track on the album which is a instrumental song and sounds like its been taken off the soundtrack of new years big sci-fi blockbuster. We want war the lead single for the album sounds so much bigger than anything the band have produced before with seven minutes of timbaland esq big drum beats, synthesized horns and bassoons and a eerie ghostly feel throughout. From start to finish Hidden is pure perfect, I cannot really find a fault in the albun at all especially with song like Hologram which is like a moment of calm in the album with poignant whispy vocals and twinkling piano that merge together to make a special diamond within the pile of gems that is this album. Fire - Power may have hints of M.I.A within it but sounds instead like the band are marching through the streets of Pakistan or India with a large brigade of drummers and warriors, I can already picutre in my kind what kind of video could be made with the song. White clouds features low, intense and threatening vocals By frontman Jack Barnett which makes you as a listener feel he has his face pushed close against your ear so you can really know his emotion. There seems to be am mystical, haunting message of the enviroment throughout the album with lyrics about the manmade vs the natural but without it being some kind of "GO AND RECYCLE BITCH!" gimmick. With the constant clash of a organic orchestra, hard, heavy and loud beats These New Puritans really produce something special with the album that could well have been the soundtrack to the Wizard of Oz or a classic (if not some what mental) Disney Film. I dont think this album will be burst them into the mainstream and will be a top ten charting album as I dont think many people will really get it and might find it abit to far out, (I myself on first listen though wow what the frank is this?) its the Artistry that Popstars like Madonna, Michael Jackson and Lady GaGa would want to but never produce as it wouldnt sell enough records. George Barnett who is also a beautiful male model in his spare time, frontman Jack Barnett, Sophie Sleigh Johnson and Thomas Hein were heavily influenced by Hip Hop artists like Wu Tang Clan, Dr dre and Timbaland on the first album and you and definately hear these pass onto Hidden however the band have really just gone above and beyond expectation so if you dont alrady have the album go out and buy it NOW, trust you will regeret it if you dont.
